Guiding the Heart: Supporting Your Teen’s Emotional and Identity Development
Adolescence is a season of deep identity formation. While many teens ask, “Who am I?”, they are also gradually forming inner beliefs about their worth, belonging, abilities, and future.
In today’s world, identity development may include questions about academics, peer relationships, culture, family expectations, and, at times, personal identity and belonging. In many Asian American families, achievement standards, cultural values, and everyday parent-teen interactions can significantly influence how teens interpret their experiences and respond to challenges in school and life.
Through guided reflection and discussion, parents will explore:
- How teens interpret correction, praise, and comparison
- How emotional experiences influence motivation and learning confidence
- How family communication shapes self-worth and resilience
- How to support healthy identity development while honoring family and cultural values
This workshop is educational in nature and open to all parents.
